I also have lost the Software Volume control when soldering a new headphone jack on a Gen 1 32GB iPod Touch. I have gone through 3 headphone jacks so far. I can faintly hear sound, but no volume increase or decrease to be seen. I was wondering if there was any luck with other headphone jacks as I'm not so sure i'm shorting them all out in the same way.
